Directed and adapted by Skip Galla and Karalyn Clark,An Incomplete Education tells a beautiful story of two young loverswho have been educated in every subjectfrom Mathematics to French and yet not in the birds and bees.While this couple tries to ask their tutor and relatives in a delicate waywhat to expect on their wedding nightthey blunder together until a thunderstormgives them the opportunity to triumph over their fears.The opera was written in 1879 as part of an evening’s entertainmentorganized by the “Cercle international”,in the Boulevard des Capucines,with piano accompaniment by Chabrier himself.The first performance at the Paris Opéra-Comique,conducted by Roger Désormière, was on 24 March 1938,and it reached its 50th performance there in April 1946.
